So this weekend was pretty big for Lenore. She was a contestant for the Waianae Coast’s Got Talent contest. There was some pretty tough competition!
Our girl was pretty calm until she learned that there were some cash prizes for the finalists. We had no idea there would be prizes! Actually we knew the top winner got to be on TV, but we thought maybe there would be a stuffed animal or a key chain for the 2nd and 3rd place winners.
Oh we were wrong!
First place contestant got to be on TV, AND won $500. Wow! The second place contestant walked away with $25o and bragging rights, and third place won bragging rights and $100. Not bad! Not bad at all. 🙂
The minute Lenore learned there was cash on the line she went into a small panic. Jon had to go backstage and cheer her up because she was pretty nervous when she heard the other contestants perform. Granted…..Lenore was the youngest in the line-up, (everyone else was a teen to adult) but she didn’t seem to mind that.
It was the money.
That’s a lot of money to a 10 yr. old, and it threw her off her game a little.
As I said before, there was some serious talent to compete with but our girl ended up placing 3rd.
The other winners were older, but Lenore showed she could hang with the big girls.
It was a wonderful experience, and Lenore is pretty sure how she plans to use her money.
As a bonus, one of the judges happens to be one of Raven’s idols. Her name is Ari South, and she was a contestant finalist for Season 8 of Project Runway. Since the show, she has launched her successful line for Neiman Marcus, and is building a factory to produce her successful designs. Super talent!
And…she is just as nice as she is successful. Ari got down on her knees to hug Raven, and called her a little “Fashionista” because of her cute layered black and white outfit. I don’t think Ari has any idea how she elevated Raven’s self esteem that day. It made her month to have a compliment like that! Ari South is a class act all the way around, and we love her.
We did continue on to Ward Rafters that evening, and Lenore gave another fantastic performance. She was pretty tired when it was all through, but it was an amazing adventure.
I’ll show pictures of the evening tomorrow.
Happy Sunday all.
